Did i miss this film? David LaChappelle's dance movie? |
Ages ago I was in an arthouse cinema and saw a trailer for a film about the "angry-fighting" dance style that you can see in the Chemical Brothers "Galvanise" and Chris Brown's "Run It" videos. I think it was called Raze, or Rize, or Rage even? It's a documentary style thing, made by the photographer David LaChappelle, the guy with the crazy visual style. I've heard nothing else about it and haven't seen it advertised since. Also, does anyone know if Rent got a UK release? Rize, about the 'clowning' and 'krumping' dance phenomenon, and directed by Dave LaChapelle is out on DVD in the UK on September 25th. It's pretty good. Rent will be out on DVD on August 14th, but I'm not sure if it ever got a cinema release. Get the US DVD though if you've got a Region 1 compatible player, as the two-disc set has a great 'making of the musical' documentary that's not on the UK release.
