How do we find new clients for wedding photography? |
My husband has been a part time wedding photographer working mostly off word of mouth. He is ready to grow the business and would like to gain more clients. How should he go about advertising his business now? This is the wedding season and hopefully there is someone out there who does not have a photographer yet. It is too late to advertise in the phone book or other adds. What should we do? My husband has the education and the experience. Now, we want to move to a full time business with this. Any ideas will be appreciated. contact other people in the wedding biz like wedding planners, bridal shops, bakeries and florists that do weddings. give them your biz cards and tell them you'll give them a finders fee if someone they recommend uses your photography. advertise in the wedding section of local papers where they list engagements and weddings. ask the bridal biz people if they want to use your husband's pics from other weddings as decorations and put your biz card and contact info on the pics Well make cards with your name and number and put them at stores or at the mall. ALso put ads in the local paper. AND give them to friends so if they hear anyone needing one they can give them your card. ALSo some churchs have bulletins, and advertise there. Place an ad in the church announcements!, make fliers ask the flower shop if you could leave them there, go to the bridal shops and ask if you could display some of your husband's work! over the weekends or if you could leave business cards. Ask your friends with business if they wouldn't mind for you to leave fliers, business cards, or samples. Check your local chamber of commerce to see if they have a weekly meeting for business network. Good luck! My dad happens to be a wedding videographer and the main way that he gets business is through bridal shows. He goes and sets up a booth with examples of his work and sometimes sample DVDs. He usually has some sort of decoration to make the display more interesting. I've seen some very impressive displays at some of these shows. Try to get some sort of floral arrangement, and make sure that you take only your very best work. Make sure that you also show off all the things you can do with your photography. Bring brochures or business cards and always be around to answer questions. Have some sort of package that shows how much it would cost and be very informative. Go online to find bridal shows in your area. There are many near my home town and I'm sure it would be the same for you. Best Wishes and Good Luck! i, too am a wedding photographer. I get 99 percent of my business from bridal fairs. it costs me 300 to be a "vendor" and i average about 6 to ten wedding bookings just from that alone. It is well worth the cost and can be written off at tax time. i would say place an ad in the local paper or put an ad on your local TV channel or try advertising on the Internet......that would be some of my suggestions..... Booths at Bridal shows. Coupons. Can he do engagement photo's too? Offer discounts for engagement photos for people who book him for their wedding. Become associated with sites like weddingchannel.com and theknot.com. Ask local bridal salons to leave brochures there and if he can take pics of the dresses on models for their brochures or their website. There are TONS of options! |
