What skills would you need to become a photographer agent? particularly in fashion and advertising.? Good question. All agents are, at least at first.. sales people. You have a product, the talent whom you represent. You have a goal. to sell their services and collect a fee, usually a percentage of what their fee is, which is your salary. You are doing commissioned sales. If you have at least ten great artists whom you think you can sell, then, if they each make a thousand bucks a week, you get ten percent of that (or whatever you negotiate with each photographer) and will be making a grand a week. It's a tough business. Once you have a stable of artists whom you think are good at what they do, you then have to find ad agencies to whom you want to sell their services. You'll need a great portfolio which you can share.. An on line site where their work can be seen is probably where the business is going these days. You'll make contacts are big ad agencies who place ads in fashion magazines and in other publications. Researching where the big agencies are. Chicago, NYC and LA are the major markets. Maybe you can hustle some existing photographers whose work is currently appearing in Vogue or the New Yorker? Getting working photographers is ideal. So.. do you have the stuff to hustle in a fickle and mean business? Do you have the drive to get top dollar for your clients? Can you find 'diamonds in the rough' in talent and bring them along to new heights of success? Skills? Business degree would be good. Expertise in art/photography. Knowledge of advertising trends and have ideas to help ad agencies get the best work they can get for their products. good luck.. that'll be a quarter. u need to shut up that s what Yeah shut up!!! Photographer's agent should have good eyes and skill spot instantly beautiful models and their prospective use.Callendar photographers require sexy models.You shuld have proper taste identify beautiful people and locations.Rest are the qualities of sales man/brocker. |
