That's a serious responsibility. The wedding only happens once, and if you don't get the shots just right then you've got some pissed-off customers.
I think the best thing to do is work with another established photographer, or find some other situation to take photos at weddings where you are not the only photographer. That way you can build up a portfolio of wedding shots to show people. You can also learn some of the unique aspects of shooting a wedding (it is NOT like art photography, it's more like photojournalism).
