Where to go in New York City?

Im going to be in New York till march 31st... i know almost all the touristic places (internet) but besides that, where could i go? i've seen in movies they have art galleries throughout the city, some of them are very cool. I wanna go to a restaurant i saw in a movie (hitch) it had a giant Buddah in the middle, and the bathrooms were like all red... dont know the name...i would like to go to a rock concert..not that crazy rock, nor THAT indie.. but a cool new artist. i dont like clubs, although its in NY's culture, the same as Nyorkers being mean, rude, selfish and snobish...lol (its kinda true i went to MOMA).... i also wana see crazy stuff, not like ghetto murders but interesting stuff that could make this a good experience. (like The Gates , 2005 in central park)... this city looks interesting but its like soooooo damn big i dont know where to start!

NYC is Great! I suggest you to go to the Rockefeller Center. It is really cool and fun to be in there, you would enjoy the shops, ice skating rink, museums, and the city itself. I also would suggest you to visit Time Square, and Broadway Theater. There are awesome areas and places in New York City. You will love it! Enjoy!

Seen the empire state building as yet?.............be sure you go on the guided tours they are awesome n thorough

That restaurant with the giant Buddha statue in Hitch is Tao. 42 E 58th St New York, NY; (212) 888-2288 www.taorestaurant.com

And if you want to see the 'real' New York, not the one in your see on the travel brochures, you need to go to some bars in Brooklyn like the Crocodile Lounge on E 14th St or The Charleston on 174 Bedford Ave. Free food with drinks and you can meet interesting people who'll likely be able to answer all your questions about NYC.

The restaurant with the Buddah is called TAO.

Some good venues to see rock shows are:

Bowery Ballroom - Delancy Street
Nokia Theater - Times Square
Roseland Ballroom - West 52nd Street

There are tons of live music venues (check out the smaller bars on Bleecker Street) - you should probably pick up a copy of Time Out New York which has listings for every day by type of music.

For galleries - your best bet is to walk down to Chelsea - start around 10th Avenue & 23rd Street.

The best way to see "crazy stuff" is to just walk around the streets and wait for it to happen - I feel like I see something crazy almost every day in this city!

Also - try signing up for Improv Everywhere - http://improveverywhere.com/ - they might have a cool mission in NYC while you are here.

Art is an actual picture. An illistration is like an outline. Decorative art is the same as art but with a lot of decorative objects like pictures and fruit and apples.
