How do you suggest to install an art exhibition?

I have many paintings and sculptures that i want to sell properly, what do i have to prepare? lighting, press kit, dossier, cd compilation, How do i invite the press?
How can i convince the buyers or collectionist?
If a gallery is not available, where can i install this exhibition?
Which website is good to rate my production?

With a tight budget....

You can exhibit your works at home, with for example a visit in your workshop. In my country (Belgium) this kind of process is organized by artist's communities or even by some public services.
Before selling you must be KNOWN, and that is a good way to get to it. Also you can create your own website, like mine (www.jacquesheymans.be).
Good luck and good success.

Go to freewebs or freeservers.com. You can start internet business first and join competition. If seriously need exhibition, You need a name card and your own website. Website is the best place you can start first because you need budget to advertise your web to the public and show artworks. I recommend freeservers that they encourage online business.

Normally artist get recognition through many contest, if your artworks good they may want so you better get prepared for another copy artworks. That's when you can consider about exhibitions openings and newspapers or art magazine ads as well. And you need a namecard and online portfolio of your works that's all. All you need to advertise professionally you bound to get customers. Get your portfolio file as well and label artworks in each printing page. Don't forget to add biography inside, they can browse through and it will become handy one day.

You can go and visit museum, as a reference you will get ideas how you will manage museum one day.

Definately make a press kit if you want the press to show up. You can have an opening night but don't be shocked if the press doesn't show, they often dont. But I have had better luck with the arts press over the city wide press, for obvious reasons. And sometimes they will randomly drop by during the show's duration as well.

But you really need to start utilising connections in the press. Making them anyway, it's a long road to travel, but it's well worth it.

As for signage and info to leave at your show, more is always better. Business cards, 5x7 invites and info cards, even tear sheet versions of your press kits.

I can't really tell you how to set up a show I have never seen. Especially in a space I don't know. Just give yourself a few days to set up and bring a few friends.
