Does anyone live in Phoenix - it's impossible to meet people who aren't superficial, drunks, or drug addicts?

Does anyone else feel this way? I don't think it should be this hard... I tried metup.com, going to things i am interested in like art museums, galleries, went dancing, hung out at cafes, I go to ASU and can't meet anyone there- Is this a town full of crazies?

Go to http://myfoxphoenix.com and click on my dating place. It worked for a friend of mine.

Do you live in Tempe? It always seemed to me like all the crazy people end up in Tempe. I just wondered since you go to ASU. I know what you mean though. I moved to Phoenix my senior year of high school and it was awful. It's like everyone there is 10 years behind the times. Plus since I'm from CA everyone kept asking me if I was from the OC!! There's more to CA than the OC!!! I wish I had some suggestions for you but I honestly can't think of anything. I guess the way I met people was through work. I got a job at a place I liked to go to and the people there turned out to be some great friends, I even met my husband there! Good luck!

Believe it or not, there are plenty of smart, cultured, attractive individuals around. I've never had a problem. Maybe you need to put yourself out there more... When you go to events or galleries and see someone who looks like they might be interesting, take the initiative and approach them. I wouldn't recommend online dating sites, but maybe thats just me. And the individual who commented on "every town is like that" is right... no matter where you go, you are bound to run into the same problem... But if you are patient...you will meet someone... it just takes time.

Well, you live in Tempe and from what I've experienced and read.. it's the highest rated city for crime here in the valley. What do you expect from a college town anyway? Since you don't want to meet anyone that is superficial, drunk or a drug addict.. you won't find that many people there in the east side. I've lived here my whole life and I already know who I want to know. Good luck in your quest :)

It doesn't matter where you live... people act however they want to act.

I would suggest hitting other cities surrounding Tempe. It's a major college city so your typical college scene (with it's "let's get drunk or high every weekend" crowd) is what you'll encounter. I lived in a condo in Tempe a few years ago and I hated it!! I had 3 very small children (ages 4,2,and 7 months) and we lived right next to the pool-there were always TONS of drunk college kids out in the pool late at night making noise, throwing beer bottles,or fighting. One time, some idiot mistaked my house for his friend's at 2am and tried breaking into my house b/c he thought his friend had locked him out as a joke!! My kids were terrified (he was arrested for disorderly conduct and public intoxication).

I live in Chandler now and I love it!! the people are nice and I feel safe. Have you tried visiting places around there? there is a nice coffee shop and bookstore inside chandler mall and some really nice restaurants too (Kona Grill is always hopping).

Clubs as a whole are just bad news-I'd avoid them if you can.

this is going to sound really cheesy and I'm not in ANY way trying to push religion on you but a church young adults group is a great way to meet really nice, down to earth people!!

My church (cornerstone christian fellowship) has a group called Camber that meets every thursday night (age range is 18-28). My bf's sister attended for years and met alot of great friends through there. I attend a group called Generation 8 for people over 30. I love it!! there are laid back, cool people there that aren't into drugs, drinking,or overly concerned about their image. several of us have all gone out to dinner, bowling, minature golfing, and to the movies together. you should try it. I'll attach the link if you'd like to check it out!!
