How much is my painting worth?

i went to the art museum and saw a painting on linoleum tile, so i went down to the city and found an old building and cut a piece out of the roof. i got a wide paint brush and painted a water mill scene on these green shingles so that the shingles were like woods in the background. how much could i get for this in an art gallery?

without being able to see a copy of it, it is beyon my ability to judge it...y'see i lost my swami hat and can no longer use paranormal powers to know stuff.

It's anybodies guess. It would be easier, if you posted a pic of your work. Either that or take it to a gallery and ask. It's my understanding that most galleries take on consignment instead of buying out right.

you dont mention size or medium used in your painting, but only your can put a price on your art and only your buyer can prove you correct.

It depends on the marketing campaign given your work, and how much another person is willing to spend. I have seen crap sell for 100's of thousands of dollars and good work sell for less than $2. Art is very subjective. It is up to you the artist to put a value on your work. And if you can find someone to pay you a million for some crap you snatched of a roof have at it. Make it happen. It has already been proven that many "collectors" of art are pretentious. You could literally sell them dung on a toothpick for $1,000 if you put a well enough story behind it.

Some good answers here, the most poignant being - your painting is worth what someone will pay for it. Even honest, sincere and hard-working artists have trouble valuing their own work.
