What kind of refreshments are the norm at reception art gallery?

going today want to know if i should get food first or wait until it's over, but need something to hold me over.

ps. seeing a friend's work there

It is impolite to gorge yourself at a gallery reception. They will generally serve anything from hors d-euvers, such as cheese puffed pastries, mini quiches. To sushi, fresh fruit and veggies. Some more casual galleries will server sandwiches.

You are best to grab a quick snack prior as to not go crazy on the buffet. The proper etiquette is to have a small nibble whilst mingling.

Definitely eat first, they will probably have stuff you've never heard of and not a whole lot of it! Expect little hors d'ouvres and cheese with toothpicks in it, maybe some fruit. If there are plates instead of just cocktail napkins to put your food on, they will be little tiny plates that don't hold much food.

Wine. I go to art galleries every week and usually its wine. I say usually because there are 2 galleries that offer something different. One offers beer (imported) and one offers drinks (a selection of 5 that changes every time)

eat before you go there. If not you will not have a good time and will only think of FOOD!!!!
