What to do about Slander? |
i am a visual artist. i was recently made aware that someone who has a lot of money and influence in the artworld in america. Has slandered me to every mainstream gallery in america. I have never met this man in any capacity nor have i ever said anything to him ever. I was told that he 'hates me". This really hurts because i get no gigs in america in the arts. for so long i could not understand it. now i know why. i do stuff all over the world but have been locked out in my own country. i feel like giving up and just dying. it is just so mean, so much hate. i work so, so hard with so much against me. i have no support, no girlfriend, no no one helping or encouraging me. its always just been me. but this really makes me feel like i have failed and now nothing i do can change what this man has done. people judge me and dont even know me. i want to leave america forever now, if not i think i am going to die. so many years struggling, so many years alone put down all the time The problem with filing a lawsuit is that you have to demonstrable prove that his comments harmed both you and your ability to advance. Merely saying "I hate his stuff" may not be deemed slanderous enough Are you going to let one man take away what God has given you? mmh82sox@yahoo.comtrfomikehard... mh82sox@yahoo.com Slander is done maliciously and can be proven if he kept you from the chance of earning an income by using lies about you and your work to keep galleries from showing your art. If I were you, I'd sue him, citing the numerous places not afforded to you by his actions. Get a lawyer to work for you based on percent of your award from this slanderer. Paranoid much? Look, get yourself some gigs on your merits. There are literally thousands of outlets for creative people. I seriously doubt that one person has that much influence over the Art community. The last man that had that kind of power was senator Joseph McCarthy back in the 50's when he had artists, actors /directors black balled for being communist. first of all someone just saying that they hate you is not slander, second it's not always what you know but who you know, get out there and make some more contacts, go to every big business, every small business, talk to people make them interested in you work get off your *** and put in some old fashioned footwork |
