I am a artist, painter. How do i find an agent and promote my work? |
I have sent out emails containing 10 imagse and a breif message to lots of galleries.I feel because i am out of the artistic loop, noone seems to want to take on new artists.Feedback generally is positive though! I get the impression that the way forward is to get some form of represntation to overcome this.I have studied art at a pretty prestigious london art school Nana's answer is a good one but I can save you the time and effort that I put into finding the right site. Here's my ArtWanted site http://www.artwanted.com/artist.cfm?arti... Check it out and join if you can. This is an excellent way to get your paintings seen (in two months my work has had over 4000 hits) and you can not only sell your originals here but also prints of your originals which THEY make. I'm having a ball with it and hope you do too. Good luck and please feel free to leave comments on my stuff. call me +94775708560 There are plenty of websites that represent new and emerging artists. You just have to spend the time searching and inquiring. Looks to me like you've already got a good jump on it. Just keep at it and you'll come across someone that will click with your work. I have done some art rep.I have two I clients at the moment. Where are you located? I am in California I thought they taught you in school about how to sell your work? meet people at the lower end of the ood chain in the art industry print your bussiness card with your studion number on it throw parties at the studio have fun become popular show your work to everyone and find the right gallery that sells similar styles the more people know you personaly the better it is to find you if a client is interested chat about the art market never talk about your work, your work must appeal to sell If you are just starting out, forget the agent. Save yourself the money and be your own agent and promote your own stuff to galleries. I've got news for you, if galleries do not ask for e-mail submissions you are wasting your time here. Put a good portfolio together and get out there, visit galleries that exhibit work similiar to yours and attend their gallery openings. |
