Interesting things to do in Louisville?

Within the next week I'll probably be traveling to Louisville to visit my boyfriend, however he could not get off work all of the days of my visit, so I'll be left to my own devices for some time.

I've never been to Louisville but I hear it's a great city; very laid back and unpretentious. My interests lie in the arts. I'm particularly interested in galleries, clothing and jewelry boutiques, bookstores/comic shops, etc. Also incredibly interested in independent music-- mostly rock and pop. Can anyone recommend some good record stores and venues?

Lastly, I'm a complete foodie. Recommend some great, local places?

You should definitely check out Bardstown Road which includes Edenside Gallery, several clothing and jewelry boutiques, Carmichael's Bookstore, The Great Escape comic & record store, ear-X-tacy record store, and tons of restaurants (Bardstown Road is sometimes called Restaurant Row).

There are also some art galleries downtown on East Market St, and Frankfort Avenue has art galleries, another Carmichael's Bookstore location, and several good restaurants.

For breakfast, you should definitely check out Lynn's Paradise Cafe on Barret Ave. If you like Mexican food, you should try El Mundo on Frankfort Avenue and if you want to try something different there is Cafe Kilamanjaro on Bardstown Road that specializes in African cuisine. (I'll include a link for some solely Louisville restaurants which offer unique dining).

The Kentucky Museum of Art Craft is downtown on West Main Street and the Speed Art Museum in on South 3rd Street next to the University of Louisville.

There are numerous live music venues all over the city, so you may want to pick up a free copy of LEO Weekly or Velocity Weekly that will list places that will have live music during the time of your visit.

I hope you enjoy your stay in Louisville! Source(s): http://louisvilleoriginals.com/...

Louisville Slugger Museum is cool (even if you're not into baseball). You can take a factory tour and see how baseball bats are made.
Hey Zeppelin fan (I'm assuming)! I live in Kentucky, and have been to Louisville quite a few times, so maybe I can help. Here is a list of places you can check out....

1)Fourth Street Live: It's the entertainment district downtown
2)Speed Art Museum: Kentucky's oldest and largest art museum
3)Huber's Orchard & Winery and Joe Huber Family Farm & Restaurant
4)Frazier International History Museum
5)Belle of Louisville: The oldest river steamboat still in operation.
6)Mellwood Arts & Entertainment Center

There really is a lot to do....this site is pretty good for info: http://www.gotolouisville.com/default.as...

Have fun!
