Is it a good idea for an Artist to change his/her signature symbol?...in greater detail...?

Here is the situation in detail...

I am a college student graduating soon (in 1/2 year) with a visual art degree. Currently, I am already displaying in two consignment galleries. I display prints & oringals. Next month, I am going to my first formal show/exhibition.

Is it still early enough in my career to change my signature?
I also already have a small fallowing of people and collectors.

What should I do? Is it a risk worth taking? What is your advice?

This early in your career the change won't pose a problem. As long as you keep a good journal of what your signatures have been, it will eliminate any confusion by art historians or dealers. Keep it in good condition, and in a safe place, such as a bank safe deposit box after each one is finished. If you have kept records of your collectors, give them notice of the change. Not only will it keep them informed, but it will build interest in your new series'. Good luck with it Stony. Source(s): I've been a fairy godmother for a while now...
your the artist, you make the calls your signature defines you and if you feel its needs to be changed then do it
One of the many things that is unique to artists is that they are individualistic.
Be yourself or be someone else's.
The answer is --- What do you want to do? ----
