This artist/photographer is popular for his animal shapes like a snail and cat. Have you see Euromaxx (German TV show) episode regarding an photographer who takes night photos with slow shutter speed using just a barn light (like a flashlight) to draw in the air outdoors in the streets somewhere in Europe and when the camera finally takes the photo, it looks like a giant snail crawling by the river in the city? He does bridges, cats and other objects. The artist/photographer has a website gallery of his photos, but I can't recall what it was. I think it was on Flickr.com. Also I think he had an art showing in New York City for a short time. It's too bad I didn't have a pen and paper to write down that website. If you have any ideas or can shed some light on who this person is let me know or know the website that would be great.
I can think of a few off hand, but the first one that comes to mind is Bob, a.k.a. NoTraces ( http://www.flickr.com/people/notraces... and http://www.notraces.com ). Truly a great photographer, and a great guy in general. I wrote up a review about him on my site ( http://down-pour.net/wpblog/2006/03/12/f... )
The technique that you're inquiring about however, is called "light painting". That's when you use a slow slow shutter speed, and use a flashlight or other aimable light source to "paint" the objects you want to be more exposed. (Note, Bob doesn't do light-painting, but his nightscapes are AMAZING)
Google for light painting, or search for it as a flickr tag, and you'll find a TON of results. :D |
