Can anyone give me some ideas on how to get over my "Artist block"?

I'm the kind of person who needs to be inspired by something to want to draw it. I just have this feeling inside when I know I want to draw something. Lately, I've been out of ideas. It's so frustrating and annoying. Any ideas on how to get over this? I like to do observation drawings and sometimes draw/use ideas from photos. I work mainly with pencils. Help?

Sweetie, Let me tell you that your question is one of the most difficult problems that artists deal with. Simply, my suggestion is to get into a habit that has you drawing every day like it is second nature. Take a sketch book with you every where and date them. Draw, draw, and then draw some more. Your ideas will grow as you grown. Look at them on ly once a week as a group and then see if it stimulates your immagination at all. Best of luck, you've got good skills. I looked at some of your work.WOW!You've got it!Keep on going and there's no telling where you'll be in just a few years!Do you attend art classes? If not,you should. And,while you're at it learn from the best.I find that not thinking about it helps to "unblock"me.Try It!Just don't brood over it,go do something, anything else, then come back.Try IT!TL

discipline. Get an intetestying magazine (i use national Gepographic) and draw what you find. this will soon absorb you and oyu will be surprised at how much you enjoy it. I have done paintings commissions at $10000, $5600 and currently am doing one at $6600 so i know what I'm talking about. You gotta keep drawing though.
When I have a block, I go work out...course, right now I broke my foot, so I can't do that, doctor's orders, but it helps the mind focus on the body and then the ability to think in terms of your art suddenly just comes at you like crazy. Like ride a bike, go for a walk, sit at a McDonalds and just watch the people come and go (you might want to buy a coke so it doesn't look like you are loitering). Then, get a notepad and get ready to write down some ideas so when you are able to you can draw, or bring your sketchbook with you and sketch as it comes to you.
