Child Artist ?

My child's teachers have expressed that they feel my Native daughter is a Native Tribal Art Prodigy at 11 years old, they would like to host a website showcasing her art. My question, How can I as a parent promote her art work ? A website ? or an online gallery ? how about ebay ?

Thanks

Your native daughter? That sounds so peculiar it's not funny. No teacher would refer to your daughter as a Native Tribal Prodigy, and because you do (Native Tribal Prodigy?), this post sounds weird and bogus as all get out! But hey, Pocahontas, why not just check in with the teachers since they want to host a website and exploit a minor, and since they seem infatuated with your Native Tribal Prodigy.
while encouragement is certainly the way to go, I always think promoting children excessively is kind of wrong. Give her time to grow up. If she is interested in art and loves doing it, it's fine, and I am all for giving her time and space for following it up. But promoting it on ebay does sound just a bit exploitative and I doubt it's worth the time and effort anyway.
If her teachers want to put some of her images onto a website, why not just go with that and not worry about the rest of it. If she is really a prodigy I'd rather be worried that she gets enough of a variety of other skills in addition to the one she has. And calling her native does sound weird, do you have non-native children you have to differentiate her from?
I don't know if I'd do that if I were you. The reason is it could take something she loves and turn it into something she feels pressured to do and in turn reject it.

When you were eleven all you wanted to do was play right. Art to her could be her favorite form of that and to be honest it could do more harm than good.

There's nothing wrong with her having a website as long as any updates or new work comes in her time not anyone elses. Don't push her too hard. As she gets older you can talk to her about taking it more seriously but for now let her keep it fun.

I'm not trying to be crappy about this or anything just thinking about what's best for your kid.

Have a good one
