When selling classic artwork, how do you answer a question the buyer asks that you don't know the answer to?

I have recently been hired as an art consultant at a gallery and am wondering if I am asked to answer particular questions, and I don't know the answers and I am unable to reach a curator, how do I sell the work without being dishonest and yet sound like I know what I am talking about. Please don't answer if you are going to be sarcastic I am new at this field.
