How do artists frame thier big art pieces in exibitions an shows when they dont have alot of funds?

they show a big artwork, do they have to make the frames themselves? does the gallery help pay for frameing? do the artists get sponcorers? frameing can be extremely expensive especially when its the large ones? im not talking about canvas that doesnt need a frame, i mean paper (drawings) or other that needs some sort of frameing

Try flea markets and yard sales. When I was in college as an art major and practically broke at all times I bought alot of cheap paintings with nice frames and used them. We were also taught how to make our own in the class--> Saved a bunch!!! If you know a "glass man" around your town you may be able to sweet talk him in to giving you some glass he does not need for free. The glass cutter is not expensive to buy and it is easy to use ( That is if you need glass to cover your art work)There are some banks etc. that will finance some of the costs, if not all, if they like your art work. They usually want your piece in their business and either keep it for a while or then just buy it from you. If you have the will you will find a way:)
I'd call the gallery itself and ask them, im sure they can give you some resources.
There are some websites that teach you how to make frames*, but id just as soon buy it.
if you're handy with tools however it might be a nice touch and make the piece a little more personal.
If you live near a city there might be a frame shop in town willing to work with you- they're probably small business owners and may want to get a little extra advertising and may frame your pieces at a lower rate or let you advertise in their shop........... its always worth a try!
they are sponsered or the gallery puts up the funds because they expect a big cut after the sales. Also there are alot of grants for that especially in states like CA, TX, AZ, NM, NV, and other art loving states.
Instead of looking for ways to frame the art, think of ways to present it that don't require frames. One of my favorite ways to see contemporary drawings displayed is simply tacked to the wall. It's a very fresh and clean presentation and saves you lots of money. And if you think ahead, you can execute the drawings on standard-sized pieces of paper to make it easier for people to buy frames. Good luck!
