Hi! I would like to hang family pictures on our walls. I want it to look classy and professional.Any tips?

I heard that by grouping similar colored frames together creates a more unified look, I have two narrow hall way walls that I wish to hang with Pictures featuring maternal/paternal and child photos. I love gold frames with lots of texture like those seen in art galleries. Hope you can give me some general rule of thumb tips.

I read somewhere once that if you cut out pieces of paper/cardboard in the shapes of your frames -- you can tape them to the wall in different groupings to see which way looks best. That way you can play around with the shapes before you make holes in your wall! Good luck!
We have ours hung on the stair well. We used a wide variety of frame types, colors and sizes. The only rule was to try to keep the bottom edge of the lowest frames about the same distance from the handrail and the top edge of the upper most frames about the same height from the hand rail. It's a king of informal look but still organized. Kind of like the flowers in an English country garden.

We find that every one who looks at them are much more interested in the picture's content than in how they are hung. We get a lot of comments and compliments on the pictures.
Even in small den in my house, which does have
light walls, I took biggest wall with fewest openings and made family photo wall with pictures of my grown children, when they were
in school, and as they grew and got married, pictures of them and their wives while engaged, pictures of their grandparents, cousins when they graduated high school and college, all wonderful "memory making photos" that make me smile just to look at them. All furniture in that room is mahogany so all the frames are dark wood, but pictures are anywhere from 4x6
to 8x10 in size. It's a great way to "treat" a wall. Do it!!!
