Fun things to do in Denver?

I only have one day here, and would love to do some outdoorsy, affordable things that don't take too long to drive to from downtown. Suggestions? I'm not into the bar scene, but wouldn't mind suggestions for things to do downtown (museums, art galleries, etc.) if there's something that can't be missed.

Don't stay downtown! Take advantage of being in Colorado to see a little bit of it. Drive to Red Rocks Amphitheater. It won't take you long to get there from downtown (25 minutes) and you'll get to check out a fabulous place and great views of Denver.

just go to 16th street downtown the bus is free, im there right now its free wi fi , there are tons of shops restaurants hard rock coyote ugly, micheal jackson is entetaining on the sidewalk as we speak its just fun <not really micheal some guy dressed up in a thriller outfit> its a mile long and there is always music and good times. not far from the museun of natural history and you can allways tour the mint its free
16th street mall (if you go there you'll want to stop at the cheesecake factory -- pricey, but delicious! And they have over 30 different kinds of cheesecake!), Museum of Natural History, the Butterfly Pavillion, 6 Flags Elitch Gardens.
i would avoid doing most of the things the other people mentioned...like going to the 16th street mall......boring every city has a mall and nowadays most of them have sort of outdoor thing like the 16th street mall...if you wanna do stuff downtown i highly recommend the tivoli, the us mint, the molly brown house, the buckhorn exchange(restaurant),and if you happen to be there in august go to the taste of denver where you can try food from the city's top restaurants...

outside of the city there is always red rocks, like mentioned before, and also near red rocks is look out mountain where you can visit buffalo bill's grave and have a great view of downtown denver and the plains!

have fun whatever you decide to do!!
born and raised in denver!
the mall, indoor skydiving, the aquarium, waterworld, 6 flags, ect.... but if u drive out to Glenwood Springs (like 2 or 3 hours) you can spend some time at the hot springs (a great vacation spot) at The BrewPub and Underground Itailan are the best places to eat.( in Glenwood)
