America experts, help?

hello.
i'm going to canada and the states soon and want to know what to go and see. i have little to no money and don't care at all about very touristy stuff (like the statue of liberty..etc). i'm 23, i love: dancing/music (most things, apart from maybe rock and pop), markets, strange people, cliches, shipyards, art galleries (more contemporary than classical), and any good photo opportunities. and the cities we're definitely going to visit are new york, san francisco, montreal, toronto and vancouver.

if you know of anything in those places (or even nearish them as we're travelling about) that you think'd be worth a try i'd love to hear about it.

thank you for your time!

New York and San Francisco will have everything you are looking for and both have a lot of history. Photo ops will be great. Have fun and check out the following links:

You should go to the Grand Canyon. It's beautiful!
Capilano suspension bridge in stanley park Vancouver..famous, free and very picturesque.

Have a good trip....
In New York, Greenwich Village is great to see new and interesting people, great night life.
Florida, South Beach (Miami) is the place to be and be seen.
These are two of the greatest for your age..
don't know how you are going to get around with little or no money, but here goes:

Venice Beach, California
Miami Beach, Florida
The Village, Manhattan, New York
Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles
Getty Center, Los Angeles
Strategic Air Command Museum, Bellvue Nebraska
Boys Town, Omaha Nebraska
Hoover Dam, Nevada
# 1 if you are going to all those places you will need lots of money things are not cheap # 2 while in canada come visit sun set country www.sunsetcountry.com you will love it
If you're going to be in or near Toronto, you should definitely check out Niagara Falls. I know it's kinda "touristy", but it's definitely worth at least seeing. I haven't been to the other cities, so I have no advice about them.
