I am having a gallery opening and need to know some FAQ's for the artist? |
I get really really nervous in big crowds, especially when it has anything to do with me. People will be asking me questions about my art, but I don't know what they will be asking. Can you help me think of some common questions so I can rehearse some good answers? )I'm an abstract painter. Thanks in advance. What inspired you on this work? Which piece is your favorite? What does this one mean? Inspiration, other artists past and present, use of media and reasons, and what particular works mean. There's no need to worry, it's not going to be an interrogation, people will be there because they like your stuff! If you belive in what you do, then you shouldn't have any problems. Good luck, and imagine every person in the audience naked. Apparently that works for combatting nerves. Let us know how you get on! Is this piece for sale? How much for this piece? What were thinking when you made this piece? What is the meaning behind this piece? Do you have any other pieces like this? What inspired you to make this piece? Would you have done anything differently to this piece if you could do it again? Which piece is your favorite? This piece reminds me of (insert someone else's name)'s work. Did they inspire you? You must know why you paint like this!!! what are your motivations and inspirations??? If you don't know big problem, nobody will take you seriously, let your heart speak and you will be fine......Stay calm and think your answer don't get angry to negatives use them as challenges and transform them to positive, you can do it, I know I would say drink heavily ....and reveal nothing! The art world takes itself wayyyyyy too seriously .... So bring your best friends ,,,,,,,,,and party the nite away Congratulatiions by the way on your show! Hi, Scroll to see some articles that may help you. Good luck with your opening and don't forget : a smile can open many doors. Make people feel confortable, especially those that you'll note that don't have a certain art knowledge but like it and feel hesitant to interact with you. Kind regards, Jos茅 The problem with many artist is they do not know how or enjoy talking about their work. You created the work. Think about what it you are trying to say. Do not try to sound overly profound because honestly people do not care "that much" about your art. Be a self promoter. People are there to see your work, you are the star. often at shows unless you are wearing a shirt that say "artist" many people will not know who you are. Introduce yourself to people. Hi my name is blank thanks for coming. refreshments are in the back, if you have any questions blah blah blah. Do not worry so much about how you will answer questions but more about what you will be asking. you never know who will be there. Good luck As for the guy who said drink heavily, bring your friends and party the night away? Uh no. If you are drunk people will know. Your friends should be there but do not spend all your time with them. Are your friends going to further your art career? will you be joining them at their jobs with drinks? probably not. Enjoy the evening but party afterward. |
