I am invited to the Archibald prize evening on Friday - do I wear formal, or smart casual?


It is at the art gallery following the annoucment of winners, should I wear formal (evening dress) or smart casual (cocktail dress)

Smart casual and expect to see the wild and wacky. I'm envious, I would love to go. Enjoy yourself.
Casual urban chic. You're talking about a trendy art prize, not the opening of Parliament. Say g'day to Lady Sonia for me, darling.
You should wear a smart casual cocktail outfit it not the fussy show it was years ago and its likely to be hot .
It depends on whether the reception extends to dinner or is due to end before 8 p.m.
If the first then formal evening dress -if the latter then cocktail dress.
