My aunt has a painting to sell, by C Phillip Weber. It's been appraised at $25k,? |
and has been on commission in an art gallery for 3 years, in Philadelphia, but won't sell. If it sells, she'll lose 40% to commission. Any ideas on how to sell more profitably? try the link below for staters then try to contact the galleries that sold the artist work in other states. in any case try selling the work on e-bay, or better yet at an auction Source(s): www.artprice.com www.christies.com www.sothebys.com www.bonhams.com 40% is a normal commission for a gallery consignment. But since it has been there for so long - the gallery obviously doesn't have the clientele for this painting. It should be considered to contact a name auction house which might have more success if placed in auction with similar works. And in that case the buyer pays auction fees and a reserve can be set for the painting which would guarantee what you'd receive.
