How to clean a garage (cement floor) that had tons of soapstone (talc powder-like) tracked through it? |
The cement floors are finished for an art gallery and woodshop, and people worked on soapstone sculptures, tracking the stuff everywhere. It's been mopped and scrubbed. What's the cleanest, best way to restore the floor to "non-slide-like" conditions? Pressure washing and application of garage floor refinishing kit found at most hardware stores There are paints available for garage floors some include a sandy substance that you throw down on it before it dries. power wash it if you can or use methl chloride or hydrochloric acid. By far, the cheapest way would be to go down to your nearest HomeDepot and go to the flooring isle (the tile one), and look for a floor scraper. To let you know, there will be two different kinds. There will be one that has a huge blade and one which has a small blade. I would tell you to get the small scraper, because if there are any dips on the floor the big scraper is not going to be able to scrape that mess up. Where as the small one will, it will take more elbow grease, but it will get the job done. Before you get to scraping the floor, pour some water on that mess, let the water soak the mess for about 5 minites, them begin to scrape. Believe me, this is how I scrape my foors, when I have to get them ready to install tile on them. I almost forgot, oncr your floor is scraped, take a sponge and a bucket of water and clean up the mess. Good luck. |
