Ceremony/ Reception same place, same room?

Its an art gallery that fits 200. My guest list is at 100. Not a member of any church because we are planning this from out of state. So im thinking I come down the stairs and we split the room just on the one side down the middle, and place an arch for the ceremony. Because the other side of the room will be for the buffet, dj, cake etc... But my main question is, is it going to be tacky to have the guest sitting at the tables watching the ceremony, and then eat at the same tables 45min later? I could make 1/2 and 1/2 room for each, but it will be very tight. Its in jan, so there is not an option for guest to wait outside for someone to turn the room.

Another idea was to just have a tiny ceremony with imediate family, and then have the reception at the place above. But how do people feel coming from out of state just for a reception?

Weddings themselves only last for 15-20 minutes. I'd set-up an arch & some chairs in part of the room, and most of the guests will just gather round. Then later, everyone can sit down & eat. People do it all the time & it's fine. Don't not invite people to both - that would be rude. Your site looks lovely - congrats!
my wedding was pretty much just how you described ceremony/reception in the same place. it was beautiful and no one seamed to mind everything was in the same place.
I just performed a wedding in September of last year - same set up. No one commented on it or complained. The arch was at the head of the room, after the vows, the bride and groom exited the building, as if they had somewhere to go, bird seed was thrown in lieu of rice. The bride and groom stayed outside long enough for photo ops while the food trays were set out. They came back in, everybody ate, drank and were merry. Besides that, it's your wedding, the hell with what these people think!!! You do it the way you want to.
I just attended a wedding that was set up exactly like you describe. It was lovely.

I looked at the pictures of your place. Beautiful! I think it's all going to work out well.

Best wishes on you wedding!
I have been to a wedding like this. I didn't have a problem with it as a guest. But I am also getting married and facing the same problem. Something about walking down the "aisle" sounds nice...

I've considered having open seating so everyone can sit close during the ceremony and have a few chairs set up for VIP like moms, and grandparents and then do assigned seating later.

I've also considered putting a large dance floor in the middle of the room (similar layout as yours) and just having the tables already set up, but the chairs on the dancefloor for the aisle and moving them afterwards.
That is a beautiful room! Yes, you can have the wedding and the reception both there. I doubt that anyone would be critical about sitting at a table, eating there later.
The venue you chose is beautiful. A couple of years ago my cousin had his wedding and reception in the same room. All those invited were friends and family and we actually sat at the tables during the wedding. They had the tables marked with bride's family/friends and groom's family/friends and had an aisle down the center of them. It was very beautiful. After the ceremony they went to the back room again and took a few photos and then the wedding party entered again and each person's name and relationship to the couple was announced. I think with the addition of the arch your's is going to be breathtaking and since you'll be entering from the stairs it will be even more elegant. There is just something so beautiful about a bride on a staircase. Congratulations.
