What is the name of that string/wire called? |
If you have ever gone to a museum or art gallery, you may have seen huge, and big sculptures or airplane models that are suspended above up towards the ceiling with just a string. Usually, you cannot even see the strings, but if the light hits it right, it becomes faintly seeable - what is the name of that super strong string? Is it unbreakable? How much weight can it hold? It's Hanging Wire. There are different sizes and specs. Check these out: http://www.framingsupplies.com/hangingwi... Picture Frame Hanging Wire When using picture frame wire, we recommend using a picture wire that has a breaking strength of at lease four times the weight of framed image. Braided Wire Specifications Size Number/Strands Feet/Spool Breaking Strength 1 8 2200ft 34 lbs. 2 12 1500ft 51 lbs. 3 16 1025ft 68 lbs. 4 20 910ft 85 lbs. 5 24 740ft 102 lbs. 6 28 650ft 119 lbs 8 36 500ft 153 lbs http://www.dickblick.com/zz171/54a/... Source(s): http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&s... i am guessing that it is some type of super strength fishing type line. and can hold quite a bit of weight It's either hanging wire, which is generally a thin braided wire that can be made of materials with high tensile strength, such as titanium or kevlar, or it could be monofilament string, similar to fishing line. |
