Scary TV show from the 70's?

I was a small child in the 70's and remember a TV show episode about a man who was a starving artist who tattooed a beautiful woman on another man's back. Later in life the artist became famous (may have died, not sure) and his paintings were highly coveted. The tattooed man was then homeless but saw an art gallery with his old friend's paintings and revealed his tattoo. He was told by some collector who owned a hotel that he would be paid to live at the hotel if he would walk around shirtless to showcase the artist's work. However, the ending shows that he was killed and his skin removed and framed. I thought the show was Rod Serling's Night Gallery but I am wrong. Anyone have any idea what the series was? It is driving me nuts. I was probably 8 or so when I saw it and it really made a creepy impression on me. Thanks.

it's so funny, my husband and I were just talking about scary 70's shows, I'm not positive about when the shows started since I remember them being in the early 80's as well, but there were the "outer limits:", 'tales from the dark side', and I believe Tales from the crypt. I could be wrong about the time line of these shows, but as a big horror movie buff myself thought it might bring back some memories.
This is showing my age, but it could have been Twilight Zone or Alfred Hitchcock Presents. They always had creepy stuff like that. I don't remember that episode but they were all like that. Crazy puppets and dolls that came to life. LOL, I am to this day so afraid of puppets and clowns!!!!!
