Does anyone else care about children in Africa?

After school ended i thought about leading a fundraiser to raise money for the children in Africa for next year. I thought about making a slideshow and first explaining the situation to the kids and what we will be doing. First i thought about just having kids donate money, but then i thought we should have an art fundraiser and have the students and staff memebers each create an art peice to sell in the fundraiser...at the fundraiser we would have the art gallery, food, drinks, and maybe even have students dance or sing. Then i would send all the money to the abaana organaization who will use that money to help the children in Africa.....Do u think I can make this work?

Your fundraiser idea sounds good.
Try asking your local newspaper and radio station if they will donate free advertising so you don't have to pay for it.
Also, if you plan on having this fundraiser at your school, make sure that your school board gives permission before you plan too much-they can't let it appear that the school is doing the fundraising.

If your plans don't work out, there are several good organizations that are doing a lot of work in Africa, including the Red Cross, Amnesty International, the World Health Organization, and many religious-based charities, that you could be part of.

Good Luck!
Sure you can make it work. And it is a great idea. But, I always wonder why no one wants to help the children in their country/state/neighborhood?
Yes that is a great idea for any country, not just Africa.

I suggest you find a more professional way donating the money, so you know that they are honestly receiving the money that was donated to them. Alot of scam artists out there..
As an American living in America, I think we should concentrate on the children in America first before concentrating on any one else's kids. Yes, I know I'm gonna get hate mail for this answer. Please refer to my profile.
Yes you can make this work, nothing is impossible. There are a lot of people already out there trying to do the same as you. But I think you should find a specific project to sponsor. I'll give you an example. There is a company called Compassion. They sponsor children and give kids in africa food, water, and medical supplies. Thirty two dollars will help a child for a month and provide them with everything they need. So that's an option for you. There are many other things you could do but here is the Compassion website. www.compassion.com
I think it could turn out great! I recently did a Girl Scout project that helped kids in Uganda. I gathered books, medical supplies, food, money, anything that I thought could help. When people come together for a good cause, the results are astounding. Make your cause known! Make flyers and hand them out to students to take home. Post them on a community bulletin board, hand them out at stores, just spread the word! People will show up with their love, support, and respect.

It's awesome that you actually care enough to make an effort at helping others...
yes if you plan it out. Have an organization or something. Plan it before you do it. But otherwise, you should be able to make it work if you have a interest in it.
