Artwork stolen in Australia-I live in U.S.? |
I sent limited edition prints on consignment to a now defunct art gallery in Sydney, Australia. The gallery is now closed-owner will not answer emails-Any ideas (short of traveling there) about how I can report this to police and/or recover art? Maybe the prints were a scam too. I'd suggest calling the Sydney police to file a report, and if they can't do anything, you might think about hiring a private investigator to track down the owner and your prints. Good luck! Go to Government of New South Wales, Australia website and look for the Consumer Affairs section, ask for their help in locating the gallery, ie: actual address, give them details of your complaint. It is easy to ignore emails, or change email address and keep operating the gallery. Chances of you turning up at the door are pretty slim! How do you know the gallery is defunct? Like every enterprise there are shonks! I am not sure how you could get back to me. Perhaps Yahoo Answers can help. I will be in Sydney next month. |
