Artistic Nude? Or Porn? |
Throughout history there have been paintings and masterpieces on the walls of art galleries worth millions of dollars. But children are aloud to see these pictures on gallery walls yet not in a pornographic magazene? some seem the same yet others don't. Ancient paintings of humans enjoying sexual encounters are in museums all around the world. I am an artist and find it very interesting on what the public believes the difference is between artistic nude and pornography. And why can children view the works of "art" in a museum but not in a magazene....just curious...best wishes~ As an artist, a figure model, and nudist, I think the human body is beautiful. Art whether a painting, sculpture, drawing or photograph of a nude even slightly erotic, should inspire a to think, arouse feelings makes one consider life. Pornography sole purpose is to deal with sex. Not the beautiful act of making love, but just worrying about just getting off. Unfortunately, there are narrow minded people that want to ban any form of nudity, art or pornography. What a sad life they must have. The human body is beautiful & it definitely can be distorted & degraded through pornography IMO. I've taken many art classes drawing "nude" models. Though my very first class was awkward, we all began to see the body as a work of art itself, & any figurative artist can learn so much from drawing nudes. I can totally appreciate "nudes" in art, historic & modern. However.... there's some old "master" works of "nudes" that totally would fall under the Porn category today, just like there is a lot of nude paintings/drawings/photographs today that are masterfully done, very tastefull. It's a debate that's been had for a long time. It's "Naked" vs. "Nude" & I don't think it will ever be resolved. Good question! http://www.fineartregistry.com/articles/... Let's just say"one man's art is another man's pornography". There's no accounting for taste,or at least not for mine! The country and culture dictates the difference between art (nudes) and pornography (Naked). The U.S. Postal Services also defines Pornography as lascivious viewing involving sexual intent. Art examines the physical attributes of the human nude body in design. Spartawo... I am an artist and like to draw nude fugures as in figure drawing but not known I see nothing wrong with nudism in the art form or in person am all for public nudism in a civilized way that is non sexual being nude for art or just being nude is enlightening to the largest sensory system of the human body The human skin is not meant to concealed behind 2 yards of unnecessary cloth our creator did not make us with clothing we came into the world naked and that is how we should be if temperatures are comfortable enough to be nude.. The only thing you can really say about a depiction of a naked person is that they're not wearing any clothes. Everything else exists only in the head of the person viewing it. Most people will insist that there's a distinction between "nude art" and "porn", but when pressed can't explain the difference with any more clarity than "I know it when I see it". Much of the religious right is intolerant of any and all nudity, artistic or not, and try to ban it from... well, everywhere really. Other people realize that pretty much anything can have artistic merit, including what many would call porn. It all stems from a kind of cultural schizophrenia that we suffer from when it comes to sex and nudity, which is why we're pretty inconsistent with regards to what we "allow" children to see or not. If we were to be rational about it though, we'd realize there's really no evidence that children are in any way harmed by the sight of nudity, artistic or otherwise, and thus no basis for trying to prohibit them from seeing it. |
