Can you put a minors face on the internet without parental permision? |
My sister is an international art teacher. She has art fairs and field trips. I am building her art gallery site and I noticed kids are walking around the art fair and some kids are pointing at their art. She has taught in Angola africa and S.Korea and Thailand. What are the rules for having kids on an internet site even if it is a school art page. Are the kids actually her students? When my children were still enrolled in public school, the parents were sent a notice saying that unless we gave specific, written notice to say we didn't want to allow it, the school had implied permission to put any photos of our children on their website and in any school-produced publications. It's possible the places your sister taught would have similar rules, but, being outside of the US - I couldn't even begin to guess for sure. I would be very wary of posting the photos. While no parent has grounds for kicking up a fuss if you don't put pics of their kids on your website, you could wind up in trouble with someone if you do. I think your best bet would be for your sister to contact the places she taught and find out their policies. At my school you can for anything school related,it is monitered! Kyndell @School! Normally you need parental permission to show childrens faces on the net or in any other print medium. If they are part of a larger crowd and their faces are not distinct the rules change. This is to protect kids from predators. Schools can not print pictures of students without permission etc. |
