Why do you need a fine arts degree when you can sell a canvas with a black stripe on a white background? |
$650 Canadian or about $565.50 American, at a local art gallery? In the art field they are always looking for something different. Who ever comes up with the idea first. Most modern artists could never produce a portrait that could come close to the masters in art. If you have talent stay with it. The pendulum will swing again and they will appreciate real talent. I've never understood that myself. Worst still was the top prize given to one artist whose "work" was a light bulb turning on and off in a white empty room. As long as people pay for it.......... I'm sure a lot of these "artists" just wake up, and put together any old thing since they know they'll be considered genies by the masses. knowledge is power. I can see that you are trying to understand contemporary art. Well, what happened to Fine arts in the XXth century is a radical change. Arthur danto (an author I recomend to read) writes about the decision of artist being art, not only the product.he sais that is the XX century arts became closer to philosphy, so it is many times the way of thinking which you use to express yourself and not the manual, traditional skills. What is frustrating for many people who did not receive much education is arts, is that itis hard to understand. As art is now closer to philosophy, many times it is necessery to know more about art history to be able to communicate to a contemporary work. Still, I believe that it is possible to learn. Hope this helps. yeah ,i always hated that kind of art,its kinda pointless for me I can't answer that but i am going to give it a go see if i can get a quick buck or two You don't need a degree to be an artist and sell your art. You do need one if you want to be an art consultant or instructor (an expert). That's when you have to know your stuff. |
