What is the best way to sell art works from a two week fundraising exhibition?? |
I am arranging a two week exhibition for my kindergarten, it is to be held at a local gallery which is open 4-5 days a week. We were thinking of having a silent auction, but is that feasable over such a long period of time?? Would we be better off putting a price tag on each of them? The trouble with doing this is that some parents might get a bit miffed with differing prices!?! Can a silent auction last for two weeks? All of the art work is wonderful but some of the framed art could rival any abstract artist out there!;-) What are your suggestions please!! Silent auction feasible over two weeks. Are you new to kindergartner's parents? And their grandparents? Of course it is feasible. Not only is it feasible, you will find the families will become quite competitive. That is going to be your real concern, the parents. The more important concern will be to encourage the children if they find out their's sold for less than someone else's. Try to avoid the children paying too much attention to the prices. Oh yes, with children, silent auction is the way to go to make the most money. You'll work harder for it to protect the kids feelings, but the school will make more money. Start with a starting minimum for each. It would REALLY help, if noone except you and the auditor knew the details of how much each piece sold for, and then forgot when the children ask for the details. Oh, and if a parent pays $300 for their little angel's piece and the entire auction raises $600, don't let them hold that over your head. They chose to pay that much for their child's artwork. Enjoy parents, and Good Luck in your efforts. Source(s): Just an opinion make mom and dad buy it make them feel bad that there kids art might not sell why not have set prices based on size? or if they're all the about same size, the set 1 price - same price for each piece. Possibly you could charged more for the framed pieces, but make each framed piece cost the same. Just 2 prices: framed and unframed. That way, all the childrens' work has equal value. Hi We have a websiste specifically built for your purpose. YOu can host your school's or other private aor public exhibition for your kindergarten. People can buy online, or at the silent auction those pieces not purchased, or start at that bid. Also, will help to get parents involved b/c they'll go the site to see their childrens' art. Art Show For Kids http://artshowforkids.com Uploading art is free and easy; you can do, or we can help. We're just starting so no charge first time around.
