Hanging artwork gallery-style?

If you were hanging several pieces of art (maybe 5 or 7) in a row, gallery style ... for example, in the hall or on a long wall ... and they were different sizes, would you keep the tops or the bottoms of the frames at the same height? Is there a rule about that, or is it more a matter of what you like?

Thanks in advance to anyone who answers!

I have the same kinda thing in my house i hung all mine in our hallway with the bottoms level, but i mixed the sizes up. I thought about doing biggest to smallest or vice versa but the mix looks really good. Just a recommendation but buy the art lamps if you dont have them, they light up the hallway and the picture. looks good when its all said and done best of luck
It all depends on what you like. If you went them more even, I would align them using the top of the frame. You could also place them randomly and in a scattered style! That is nice. I hope this helped and remember, it is definately just a matter of what YOU like. Good luck and happy decorating.
Top same hight. Organize them on the floor first, put marks on the wall before drilling.
I would keep the centers of the framed artwork all at the same height.

This would make the artwork the focal point and not the frames. (I am, admittedly, symmetrical to a fault however)
