What is the best way to get people to view your art?

I am in art school and haven't gotten the best advice from teachers...the run around. I paint, create sculpture, and make dolls.

How do you approach galleries in getting your art shown?

You can either solicit your art to a working gallery or you can rent out a gallery (this is not cheap!) and display your work. These are both where you start. You should also go to the galleries and attend any invitations, to learn the circuit and who's who of buyers, new artists, gallery owners and who your competition is! Not only do they need to get a feel for your work, but to gain an advantage, you'll definately need to get a feel for where your work will get the brightest exposure!
I would say call and schedule an appointment to see them and bring in a portfolio of your work, possibly 15 or more pieces. More is always better so they can get a feel for you. If you have small sculptures bring those in aswell.

Do you have a website displaying your work? Id love to see some. :)
Get the magazine "Art Calendar" . It has a list of shows, calls for entries, all over the world. Get some of your work in shows. Join a local arts group, they always have shows. Get some postcards of your work and put the in places like art supply stores and other places where art lovers might go.
