I'm a teenager and was wondering if it is possible to get my art in galleries, and how to go about it.? |
i live in Northern Ireland I would start with places like coffee houses or boutique type places and ask them if you can display your work there. After you have done so and especially if you sell a piece or two...if that is a goal.Then I would go to local galleries and tell them where you have displayed your work and the successes of those displays. You don't have to sell much but a gallery likes to have pieces that sell and interesting facts they can put on a bio.Your successes and your youth will be part of the things that would be eye catching in a bio.. Good luck to you. P.S another interesting place that likes to display local work is hospitals...Really..especially in their chemotherapy rooms because people sit in those rooms so long. And if your work is colorful and upbeat them love having them up for a while. They also sell well there. People like to take the beauty home. Well, ask your school try going to local galleries in your area and asking them about it, also if you go to school try getting involved in the art programs. I did when I was a teen. I did it by walking up and asking. I started with some mom & pop owned places. I think that was because I was too timid to approach the larger galleries. Depending on the type of art - there may be ways to get their attention and have them approach you. Think of something crazy you could do. show your art in every place that you can [ show and tell will help] you could firstly try showing your artworks in local cafes. if you want to rent a gallery space, you could fund it through sponsers, just ask around big companies who believe in art!! |
