How arists get their art, to be displayed in galleries and muesuems? |
How do artists get their work of arts to be displayed at galleries like tate gallery? How do they get the art auctioned off at christies? Takes a lot of work . More than asking this question . you go to a musem and say "can i put my art in your musem?" they will look at it and say " yes" or "no" hope your art get in! good luk to get art work in galleries you need a portfolio of work and a bio. to get works displayed in a museum like TATE you need to be well known internationally or dead. The auctioning process is also like the requirements for a museum. if you are the artist who wants to start getting your works in galleries i would suggest that you start off with your local scene and do look for competitions nationally and internationally. Good Luck check out 11 East Ashland Art Space in Phoenix Arizona...they have a web site Most public galleries occasionally have "open" art exhibitions. If the curator thinks your piece is good enough, they will accept it. Universities and art schools have exhibitions for students - these are great for buying art at really good prices. If you have an eye for what is good and what is not! people are selling art now on the Internet. They upload their pictures to a server and you can buy prints. I haven't looked closely at how these on line shops work. But one artist in particular is doing American Indian ethnic art that I like. Take a look at Esnips. You download a tool bar and then you can upload pictures to Esnips, to private folders, public folders or "for sale" folders. Download this program from tibosoftware for doing jigsaw puzzles - you get a 3D virtual art gallery! For more info join the Jigsaw and Art group on Yahoo. Art is alive and well and getting more interesting. I like the way the computer has replaced the artists brush to such dramatic effect. Incidentally, to auction art you simply talk to the auctioneer - beware of the fees charged. http://www.esnips.com http://www.tibosoftware.com/r/?id=jpget... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jigsaws... Start local as well, near us we have small artist communities - groups - and they often organise local shows (churches/community halls etc) as well as having art space. From that you you can get well known (locally) and then progress to people asking you to participate to you going around asking for showing. The kinda stuff (tate/christies) you are prattling on about is serious stuff - either you will already have these contacts if youre a "serious artist" worth doing these things, or you will have an agent who will do all this for you. If youre not at this stage then start small and do what we all do - grow from there. NB: I presume you meant "artists"! |
