Can you sell your art to galleries if you do not have a green card? |
Someone I know who is an painter was thinking of moving to NY to start her life there, but was wondering how she will sell her paintings if she does not have a green card or work permit for America. Hi, If the person you know is able to move legally to New York and has the legal right to live there, she has the same right as any other person to sell the products of their art. I suspect that if she really has the legal right to live there she will have the right to work there. If not, then a notification, by her, of the result of any sales can be made in the same manner to the IRS as any other person (with or without the right to work) and will be accepted, quite happily by them as a sale, made legally, in the same way as any other form of declared income. The IRS will certainly be happier if someone declares the income... I leave it up to you. Cheers and good luck to you and your friend, BobSpain Would on line be a better option for this artist? How about Ebay? There are a lot of people who have issues with undoccumented workers and it may deter gallery owners from taking on work from these artists. Art doesn't have green cards. Good luck to your friend. Have someone else submit them for her. |
