When is the best time of the year to approach art galleries with your slides? |
When is the best time of the year to approach art galleries with your slides? I don't think it matters what time of year. If it's good art, they will go for it. Plus, they are always rotating exhibits. However, do some research. Pick a gallery you think would go for your work. Take a visit and ask the person at the desk how they acquire their art. Usually they say people send their slides in. Ask him/her if you can drop off your slides in person and get information on when a convenient time is to leave them. Get to know the people who work in the gallery. Hope this helps! Source(s): I do a lot of shows in Memphis, TN. Where do you live? In Puerto Rico, you would not do it during the months May-August and Nov.-January since everyone is celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas, summer vacations. That leaves Sept, Oct, Feb-April. So that sounds like fall and spring. Now if they like fall better than spring, go in Oct. or Nov. In S. America and the S. part of Africa the seasons are reversed so you could do it in June or July. The point is find out when they are most receptive to proposals if ever and then send them. But if you know people, that will help. experience with resumes and proposals Any time you can get ahold of someone in charge. Look for open exhibits. The only way to know is to get out there and try it. Good luck! Personal experience. |
