Which are the best art galleries in London? (incl. commercial galleries)? Below are considered the best in the Country National Gallery (free) www.nationalgallery.org.uk/ Tate Britain (free/charge) www.tate.org.uk Tate Modern (free) www.tate.org.uk/modern/ National Potrait Gallery (free) www.npg.org.uk Royal Academy (charge) www.royalacademy.org.uk Somerset House (small charge/free www.somerset-house.org.uk For Modern art and new British talent I would recommend the Tate Modern www.tate.org.uk/modern/ Serpintine Gallery www.serpentinegallery.org and the fantastic Saachi Galleries www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/ Hope this helps tate and tate modern The Tate and Tate Modern are the best, along with the National Gallery at Trafalgar Square. My favourite is the National Portrait Gallery County Hall Gallery - Riverside Building, Westminster Bridge Rd, London, SE1 7PB 020 7450 7600 Category: Art Galleries 鈥?Public Royal Society Of Portrait Painters - 17 Carlton House Terrace, London, SW1Y 5AH 020 7930 6844 Category: Art Galleries & Dealers Proud Galleries - 5 Buckingham St, London, WC2N 6BP 020 7839 4942 Hayward Gallery - South Bank Centre, Belvedere Rd, London, SE1 8XZ 0870 169 1000 Category: Art Galleries 鈥?Public Viart Corporation - 4 Buckingham Place, London, SW1E 6HR 020 7798 9330 Category: Art Galleries & Dealers Nevill Keating Pictures Ltd - 5 Pickering Place, SW1A 1EA 020 7839 8386 Category: Art Galleries & Dealers IZO Russian Art Gallery - London Russian art for sale. Fully searchable inventory; one-person shows by leading artists; art bookstore with rare editions; private commission sales; online sales via SSL server. A full service for collector and dealer. - Virtual Gallery, London, England - Tel: 01484 666144 - Fax: 01484 661221 - Url: russianart.izo.com Hope you will find one you like in this lot. Have a nice day and good luck!!! National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery within walking distance of each other, Trafalgar Square. Both are superb. Queens Gallery at the left hand end of Buckingham Palace is at the other end of The Mall (gallery misnamed: the items in it, eg Leonardo drawings, belong to the people and are looked after for them by Her Maj.). Royal Academy specials/blockbusters are always good value, Piccadilly. For real art these are the top four, in my estimation, and "tate" is short for potato where I come from, as it happens, an unattractive vegetable. The Tate modern and the National Portrait Gallery are brilliant :] |
