Importance of art galleries? |
Importance of art galleries? have you ever gone to a club and enjoyed the music that the dj was playing and some of it you didn't enjoy? Well he has made a compilation of music and a place to socialize and enjoy/discuss it. Unlike music though, you cannot look at art on the radio and it would be difficult to brows arround different artists homes to find what you like. The next time you want to listen to music, check and see if the artists would be willing to play it for you in thier home. to show off artwork so people will buy it They provide culture and history. Without art galleries how would we be able to see paintings and sculptures that were created long ago? Without galleries who would preserve the paintings? where else could you see a real life VanGogh painting or Picasso? an art gallery is a place you can go and see beauty from another persons perspective. its a place of talent and inspiration. who wouldn't want to go to an art gallery?! Art galleries are not important. In fact the proliferation of arts institutions is a sign of the decline of any culture. Art is a manifestation of the thoughts of the consciousness, and as such has no practical implication in the world. If you look at all great civilizations in the world they were originally very agrarian pragmatic peoples who were unafraid of war. Whether it be the Greeks, Macedonians, the Babylonian empire, even the modern US, these societies began as a movement of aggressive self sufficient practical minded people, before they became the cultural entities into which they deteriorated. Babylon in her glory was a nation of conquering warriors, at her fall she was a place of decadent self aggrandizement, with all kinds of artistic and social elements. At its root, America was a nation of farmers who worked so hard for their own subsistence and were so self sufficient that they could rise up even in a rebellion against a powerful monarchy and throw off what they perceived to be the yoke of oppression. Art and all artistic endeavors are a reflection of excessive introspection, and this kind of thought activity handicaps the man in the moment of action. All of the great literature and art of the Greeks celebrated a by gone people. The people who were by gone were not artists and philosophers and all of that, but people of action. Having secured a stable political state, their descendants had no state of conflict to arouse them to action and they became tellers of the tales of their ancestors, but doers of nothing. The most effete, inneffectual people in the world are artists, philosophers, musicians, etc. etc. etc I play the violin, speak german, and am very well educated, so I certainly am not saying this from a West Virginia trailer park. I personally don't have any problem with West Virginia trailer parks. At least you won't find any art galleries there. Art Galleries are typically for the promotion of Artists ( with the subsequent capitalism ), Art Museums are typcially for educational growth and public viewing / enjoyment. I think that it's a great mode of communication or visual reference to history or just relating to ones expressed emotions via art. When I paint I pour myself and emotions into it' it is me. I like to go to galleries to see other peoples creativity' form of thought and the relativity that we all share as a people. I know''' I'm a geek......sorry:) |
