A good way to start might be through deviant art (www.deviantart.com) I think you can sell prints of your work through the site.
I know where I live they have this beginners art gallery type thing. Its for unknown artists. Their pictures are sold and arent always for a whole lot but the more people like your stuff, the more it will be talked about. Most popular people have to start small. Also, one of my drawings was auctioned in an art sale and was hung in a doctors office. I have had so many job offers from that. So I made a portfolio and started doing more with it.
I've heard that some people have had success marketing on ebay, but I haven't been game enough to try it yet. I do alot of charity events locally, from which I get referrals, but certainly not at the level I'd like to rise to. I wish you well!
