What's the best way to take pictures of fine art with my canon digital rebel eos?

i work at an art gallery and my boss just bought me a canon digital rebel eos. i would like to know the best camera setting for taking pictures of fine art. thank you! :)

This depends on how close you get. You will have to experiment a little to be sure, but this is how it normally works.

Look at the setting dial:

The flower is for close up or fine detail photos. If you are standing pretty close or want a close up of some detail, that is the setting you want.

The mountain is for your scenery or wide area shots. If you want to get the whole picture in the frame and have it all show up, this is what you want to use.

When in doubt, set it for automatic. It does all the focusing for you and even runs the flash. The flower/mountain settings are separate from this. Auto is the best way to use the camera until you get used to focusing it manually. For all that I suggest you get cozy with the instruction book and expirament. Thats the beauty of a digital camera, you can just delete the screw ups. Hope this helps. Source(s): Wilde Ideas

If it's flat, like a painting, you'd have to stand in front of it, lined up exactly in the middle, with your camera on a flat plane with it. On camera flash will give you a bright spot on the art, so it will probably be useless. Pros use a copy stand, with lights on both sides, each at a 45 degree angle, and soft filters over the lights. Use a tripod to reduce shake. Art behind a glass will give reflections, so you will need a polarizing filter.

I hope the prints will be for your own use, otherwise you could be breaking copywrite laws if you don't have the artist's permission.
just ask a women to pose for you and see how you do with your camera when you take your film in to get them developed and see how your work had turned out .
photographing can be a great exsperience for someone someday down they road to learn to become a great model for someone someday.
I would say, get a tripod and set it up directly in front of the painting. Don't mess with the flower modes or anything like that. Forget the flash too.. set the top dial to AP and roll the wheel until the number hit 8. Line up the image in the viewfinder and and press the shutter release (silver button) The key point here is the line up your shots so that the art fills the frame inside the viewfinder. If you want to reduce the shake even more set the time and then just press the silver button and stand back and the light flashes. The should get you some nice results.
