Any tips for selling fine art on ebay? |
i work at an art gallery in florida. my boss has me working on ebay. i put many items up already... not much action tho. any tips? if ya wanna help, go to ebay, search username: websitegallart - that's me. please check out my auctions, and help me improve them! my job kinda depends on it! :) thank you! :) I think you do very well in terms of product presentation. But your prices are not cheap -- as it should not be. You have to understand that while ebay is a large marketplace with thousands if not millions of buyers and sellers, ebay's buyers typically are: - those looking for cheap deals - those looking for very unique or highly collectible items Your prices are high and your artists are not well known. It will be slow especially at the start as you build your reputation. eBay may not be the best marketplace for the type of products you sell. Not everything sells on eBay, unfortunately. Some are great fit with ebay while there are items that cannot be sold. Use ebay as just an extra marketplace for your business, possibly choosing the lesser priced items you have or the items you think will be desired by collectors. eBay can be expensive as you relists and continue to relists items not sold, especially given your starting prices. You may want to do a little research on what sells best on ebay using the following tools Items In Demand = the most popular items currently within that particular category. To see the In Demand page, go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/sell... Hot Items by Category Report = a monthly report that lists the fastest growing categories on eBay for the previous month. Go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/what... and select "Hot Items by Category" from the menu on the left. eBay Pulse = "a daily snapshot of current trends, hot picks, and cool stuff on eBay". Go to http://pulse.ebay.com/ to see eBay Pulse in action. Merchandising Calendar = eBay promotes specific categories on its home page each month. Savvy eBayers know that this home page exposure results in more interest in such categories. Go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/cale... to view the current Merchandising Calendar. Source(s): How to Find the Hottest Products to Sell on eBay http://www.powerhomebiz.com/102005/ebay.... a tip from an ebayer like myself is that more and more people are wary of authenticity of items, plus pictures might not be so great either or the firm doesnt put alot of info on the company or painting, try that, and as always certificates or authenticity are always helpful my tip is... don't use eBay. sorry I realise that doesn't help you much, but most people on eBay are looking for a bargain, they don't want to fork out high prices even if it is original and valuable artwork, atleast thats always been my experiance you'd have much better luck selling posters than original works I am looking and I think everything looks great. The only thing I can think of is high asking price. I know nothing about art though so it could be a bargain. But I am guessing the starting bid should be a little lower. The item description and everything else looks great. I would feel comfortable buying from your company through ebay. |
