If you pay a vanity gallery to show your paintings, say in a city like New York, would that damage your reputation with "normal" galleries? Or if you can afford it, would it be better to get the exposure, if at least they have good taste?
If you are a budding artist and can afford it... no reputation will be ruined. But if you a well known artist... you don't have to pay to display your art. Galleries will not stop calling you. About the reputation with the normal galleries... you dealt with them already? Do you have a contract stating that you shouldn't do that? Well if none as long as you are displaying a different sets of art... why should they care? |
