Is an exhibition a show only lasting a few days or a months?
Is it something you apply for at a gallery?
An exhibition (solo or group) is a show usually of a given timeframe, from a single night to a month or so, of a body of work. Where works are for sale, a commission is paid to the venue owner of from 20 to 50 percent. A consignment simply means your work -- one or two pieces --has a price put on it by a retailer of many items or gallery owner representing many artists who may use a discount factor to make a sale. Duration and markup is usually agreed upon in a written or verbal contract. An exhibition is a special show of your work for a period of time. Consigned means that they will exhibit and sell your work for a commission.
