Would people rather buy art from the artist or a gallery? |
Would people rather buy art from the artist or a gallery? The artist, so they get full compensation for their work, without giving a percentage to the gallery. Also, this way, you can talk to the artist about their own personal thoughts on that piece of art. I'd rather buy from the artist especially if it's someone I know. It's more personal than a gallery. pay the artist the price you will find in the gallery... the artist may have bigger heart by shy to ask the price as it does deserved to be... That depends. If I was interested in the art of one certain artist, I would rather buy from the artist. However, that is not always possible. That artist may not want to deal with the public. The artist may live in a country that does not have trade relations with my country, (ie, Cuba & USA). The artist many be dead ! If I did not have a certain artist in mind, I would go to a gallery to view the works of many artists. Then make a purchase. I am an artist and I love art. I prefer supporting the artist as fully as possible. I love going to open air art shows where there are artists selling their own work. I like being able to compliment the artist on their works just as much as I like receiving feedback on my works. However if there is something in a gallery that I want, why would I not purchase it? |
