to introduce their art, display it, sell it, etc?
While there are galleries located 40 miles from my home they display the larger works of people who have a following. You could make a cold call to someplace like that in your area. Are there any tourist spots near you that would handle local art? To get a start the artists in my town will display their work in the local coffee houses and local craft shows - just to establish a following and get experience. The government offices will also change their art displays. It is a way to get your name and work out there.
Hmm, have you tried searching the internet? Or there might be a book of things like that in good bookshops. Other than that I think you have to just go into galleries and speak to the person who owns it.
