What do I wear to an Art Gallery? |
What do I wear to an Art Gallery? It would depend on the event, and the location. If you're simply visiting, normal clothes would be fine. To an evening event, a smart pair of trousers and a quirky shirt or accessories would be suitable, unless you have been specifically told that it is an evening dress or casual event. I wear ordinary clothes: t-shirt and jeans, blouse and slacks or skirt, simple dress. I don't think there is any dress code, except that footwear is required, and you should probably cover yourself sufficiently (don't go shirtless). If you're talking about going to a special event, you'll probably want to dress up according to the tone of that event (anything from formal-casual slacks and collared-shirts, to ultra-formal evening dress, with leather shoes). not trying to be a smart@## here, but i usually wear clothes...nothing real fancy and never a tie...(but i'm an artist, i usually wear black to those deals and don't care what they think)...sometimes i wear pressed slacks and an ironed shirt (again, never white...blue or green, and tan or grey slacks). and i have my french berret or a biker dewrag on my head. An art gallery is about expression. It is ok to dress wildly. Ask, How do you feel?...than dress that way. I'm sure no one will be affended, lol. Black is popular, with a small exant of color. |
